Foods that people in Hong Kong get disproportionately excited* about

1/2/2012

1) Abalone
2) Red bean dessert
3) Sweet potato
4) Fish balls, beef balls, etc
5) Hairy crabs**

Generally in East Asia, people also seem to have a disproportionately high regard for these foods too:
- Durian
- Eggs that are either rotten or uncooked
- Offal
- Processed cheese
- Soy Milk
- Stinky tofu
- Spam
- Supermarket bread (ie: not fresh / bakery bread)
- Tapioca

* I don't mean "enthusiastic" about, I mean visibly thrilled at the mere mention. "Disproportionately", because of their bland taste / texture and their ubiquity.
** Perhaps this one is fair enough - it is a seasonal / traditional food.

Ways to fold toilet paper for wiping

2/1/2012

1) Two sheets, folded once on the perforation (making two layers)
2) Two sheets, folded into thirds (three layers)*
3) Three sheets, folded in half twice (four layers)*
4) Three sheets, folded inwards twice on the perforations (three layers)
5) Three sheets, folded twice on the perforations, concertina-style (ditto)
6) Unspecified amount, not ripped at the perforation, probably folded randomly**
7) Unspecified amount, scrunched**

* My preferred methods
** Foolish methods

Red Dwarf quote: "...he only ever used three pieces of toilet paper: one up, one down, and one to polish."
